Default Closest 'district' to Australia?

Hi,

I live in Australia, and wish to play with the lowest ping possible. I think S. Korea is the closest (or is it?), but wish to play in a place where the main language used is English.

Which country out of the 3 should i play?

I'm going with Europe judging by the global map. Your underneath Europe somewhat. Asia might be a bit farther, but nothing gets worst then America, which is diagonally opposite from you.

I could be totally wrong though.

If you have a good connections you should be able to play on any district without much problem. I regularly play on foriegn disticts in other games with no noticable lag.

I play on the American servers with no lag except at the Hall of Heroes, but that may be due to the fact I have a below average computer.

In any case, you should try all three. You can change countries several times so pick the one that works best for you.

I'd choose America for the language. I *did* choose America for the language, even though I live in Europe. My skills in German and French are rather poor.

US tend to be the "hub" of the Internet world. Even data between European countries are sometimes routed through the US. So also for that reason America is the obvious answer if there is no local server.

America is the safe choice. Europe had nothing to offer during the last BWE, too many diffrent languages and lower usercount. Anet only addressed the issue of less users, and it's really the least of my concern

It's a hidden "feature" that you can only switch regions 5 times per account, so don't start hopping back and forth with abandon, unless you want to get stranded wherever hop 5 lands you.

More users will also adress the language concern, as the game will try to divide people into districts depending on their language setting. I think that is why I sometimes felt everybody talked French, and other times that everybody talked German, when I played in the European world. I simply ended up in a French or German district, because too few English-speaking players were on. With more players, that should happen less frequently.

Nonetheless, I also choose America.

For the last BWE it asked you to choose between America and Europe, saying that if neither applied to you that you should pick America, so I think they might add more options in future and automatically offer the choice of changing to the new localities to anyone on the American option but not to the others.
I'm an Aussie and I played in the American world during the BWE.

Hi Mate,

You will be fine to connect to the US servers.

from what i understand, worlds are not necessarily "server" based. you connect to the closest server to you regionally. but the "world" you choose designates the majority of districts available to you. if you live in Europe and choose to play in the American world, you will end up "further away" than most players in the American districts. there may be a slight difference there when compared to people from the same region playing together.
on the flip side, this would mean if people in the US chose the Korean and European worlds but played exclusively with other Americans in the International districts, they should not see a difference in performance.
that is my take on it anyway..

Thanks for the replies, i have one more question though

So far im leaning towards America, but im curious to know how the lag will be the same as the other regions? For example, on Counter-Strike, i would get 10-30 ping on Australian servers, yet get 500-1000+ on American/other countries?

Also would having a higher ping affect pking? I played Conquer Online with 500 ping and it was rather hard pking due to me not being able to constantly follow them/attack.

Thanks!

I'm in Melbourne and play on the American servers on a 512k adsl. Hardly any lag for me so far and hardly any foreign language which is a bonus!

I play in America and live in the UK. I have no ping problems at all. There are to many different languages on the Euro server, its so annoying.
